This one has me a bit confused. For the last few weeks Obama has been  getting tons of people to sign up for his SMS list to find out who will be his running mate. It was a brilliant strategy for collecting much needed phone numbers as the general election draws near.

I’m left wondering though why they sent out the text message at 3am. While some speculate that it was a dig at Hillary for her “Who would you like to answer the phone at 3am” commercial, I suspect that it was done because hours earlier, the Associated Press had already reported that Joe Biden was chosen.

The key to Obama’s SMS ploy was that subscribers would be the first to know. I guess they panicked and released the messages in the middle of the night when they found out the news was out.. I wonder how many people they woke up.

Most probably had their phones off like I did, and already knew long before getting the message in the morning.

Kudos for a great idea. Unfortunately things don’t always go as planned.
