Mobile ad spending to double by 2010
February 22nd, 2009 by Gary LadenRory Maher over at MocoNews.net has written a quick piece on the continued growth of Mobile ad spending
Mobile advertising continues to grow rapidly even in the recession and even as other digital formats slow. The bulk of mobile advertising revenue will be in text messaging/sms: JPMorgan expects that area to grow 40 percent this year to $2,.10 Billion, and 45 percent in 2010 to $2.915 Billion. Mobile display expected to grow 20 percent this year to $94 million, while mobile search is forecast to be up 30 percent this year to $129 million. These three markets combined will almost double between last year and next year, JPMorgan says. That’s still a tiny fraction of global advertising spend, but it’s good growth.
As the article states, the bulk of mobile advertising will be in text messaging/sms. The power of delivering your message to the consumer at the right place and right time is still growing strong (with continued explosive growth still expected) and still unmatched by other forms of Mobile marketing. With monies coming out of other digital formats but still flowing into mobile marketing, we at Mobivity are looking for 2009 to be another great year for both our company and our ahead of the curve customers.
