Will Small Business Adopt Mobile Marketing?
August 16th, 2006 by Greg HarrisWhile the techies are putting together the magic behind Mobivity, I can’t help but think that they have the easy part. The sales and marketing effort is a bit more tricky.
One of my goals is for a small business to use our service to manage their own mobile marketing program. A recent posting I read by Bran Hecht on adotas opens like this…
Â
After years of “coming soon, the age of Mobile Marketing finally seems to be upon us. You only need to take a casual stroll through the mall, or a leisurely flip through the television channels to see the telltale signs of a tipping point: On a recent trip to the mall, I spotted a major retailer sporting window displays urging passers-by to enter a “text-to-win contest by sending a text message from a mobile phone.
This is exactly what I am hoping for. Mobivity is designed for that business that wants to build a database of customers and prospects. In another older posting from over a year ago on AdverBlog, Martina talks about Hair Salons using SMS to reach out to their clients.
So the real question is, will the small business owner understand the value of mobile marketing? Will they understand how powerful it is to be able to instantly send a message to their clients, offering a discount on a slow day?
It’s nice to see Coke, Starbucks, and McDonalds using mobile marketing, but it hasn’t really arrived until a local restaurant can fill some chairs on a slow night.
